DETAILS:

After previous sell-out shows in Australia, The Turner Brown Band are returning to Australia in May 2023! Experience what happens when southern US Church-based ‘Sacred Steel’ music crashes head on with blues-based slide guitar.

The Turner Brown Band is a joint project between Australian slide guitarist Dom Turner (of Backsliders) and USA-based ‘Sacred Steel’ lap-slide guitar and vocal sensation Nikki D Brown.

The result is a merging of Nikki’s southern style US gospel ‘Sacred Steel’ guitar and vocals with Dom’s blues-based sounds forming a dueling electric slide guitars and uplifting gospel-blues musical feast with “fierce soul harmonies accompanying a swampy, guitar-soaked roots sound”. The Sydney Morning Herald 2018.

Born into a Church-based/lap-slide guitar tradition known as ‘Sacred Steel’, the powerful vocals of Nikki D Brown has developed over a lifetime of gospel singing, resulting in a powerfully rich, raspy soul-gospel vocal style delivered with impeccable flare and flamboyancy.

Renowned Australian blues-based slide-guitarist and vocalist, Dom Turner has spent more than 30 years touring the festival circuit with Backsliders as well as various musical collaborations.

They will be touring with a new EP, due for release in May 2023. Other albums include: Attitude Adjuster, released in 2018, Sneak Attack released 2017 and Sliding Steel released May 2017.
